This morning two traffic stops were made for driving over the speed limit in a school zone and 1 citation was given.  Officers will be strictly enforcing the school zone speed limit.  During the hours of 7:30AM-8:30AM & 3:00PM-4:00PM the speed limit is 20 mph in the school zone.  

A reminder of the laws regarding speeding in a school zone and failing to stop for pedestrians

For a violation of a school zone speed limit a fee of forty dollars for one through ten miles per hour over the posted speed; and forty dollars, plus one dollar for each additional mile per hour over ten miles per hour over the limit unless a greater fee would be applicable.

Failure to yield to pedestrians at the crosswalk may result in 50$ fine and two points on your license.

The beginning of the school year is an especially important time to check your driving behaviors. Please remember to slow down and use extra caution, especially in school zones!
