National Police Week 2021

May 10th, 2021 2:44 pm

Yesterday, May 9th began Police Week, running through May 15th. In 1962, former President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15th as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as Police Week. National Police Week pays special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others. In 2020 alone, there were 362 officers killed in the line of duty protecting their communities in the United States.

Here at the SCSO, we'd like to acknowledge and thank those currently serving in our office, Wyoming Highway Patrol, and all other Law Enforcement Officers who serve their communities, as well as those who paid the ultimate sacrifice on Duty. Day in and day out dedicated brave men and women of Law Enforcement selflessly confront danger to protect our families and defend our communities. Please join us in expressing our gratitude for their hard work and dedication. If you see a Deputy or Trooper this week thank them for their service.
