(Pinedale, Wyo – August 31st, 2023) Sublette County Sheriff’s Office Drone team receives a grant for indoor drones from Marathon Petroleum.
Earlier this year, the Sublette County Sheriff’s Office Drone Team applied for various grants to add to our program's ability to fly indoors. This missing asset would allow the Drone team to help first responders check unsafe indoor and confined spaces. Our drone program began in 2019, with two pilots from our office, and has been used in over 40 missions since inception. Missions range from suspect apprehension, damage assessment, crash reconstruction, crime scene reconstruction, Search and Rescue, and Emergency Management operations. This valuable tool would help keep our first responders safe, and in many cases reduces the time needed to complete those tasks.
Marathon Petroleum has awarded our drone team $5,000.00 to use towards growing our program. Two new indoor capable DJI Avata drones were purchased through GenPac Drones using the grant money. Kris Bacheller from Marathon presented the Drone team with a check this morning at our office. We would like to sincerely thank Kris and Marathon Petroleum for their support and for making the drone program a success.
