(Pinedale, Wyo – July 3rd, 2024) Sublette County Sheriff’s Office Announces Retirement of four Staff Members


The Sublette County Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce the retirements of four dedicated staff members this year: Dispatch Supervisor Cheryl Koessel, Deputy Carol Mackenzie, Probation Deputy Shane Templar, and Court Security Sergeant Tyson Gulbrandson.


Cheryl Koessel, Dispatch Supervisor Cheryl Koessel retired on April 30th after over two decades of committed service. Cheryl began her career with the Sublette County Sheriff’s Office in June 2003 as a dispatcher, following her previous role in Hana, Wyoming. She was promoted to Dispatch Supervisor in 2015, where she continued to serve with distinction until her retirement.


Deputy Carol Mackenzie Deputy Carol Mackenzie retired on June 1st. She initially joined the Sublette County Sheriff’s Office in 2005, working briefly in the Detention Center. She rejoined the SCSO in April 2015, contributing in various capacities, including Detentions, Transports, and Warrants. Deputy Mackenzie was also an instructor for TIPS (Alcohol Server Training) in collaboration with the Sublette County Prevention Coalition.


Probation Deputy Shane Templar Probation Deputy Shane Templar retires today, July 3rd, capping off an impressive law enforcement career spanning over 30 years. Shane joined the Sublette County Sheriff’s Office in February 2005, following service as a Police Officer in Saratoga and Nebraska. His tenure at the SCSO included roles in Patrol, where he was promoted to Patrol Sergeant in 2007, and Investigations, where he served as supervisor until 2013. Shane spent his final years with the Probations department, working closely with the courts and the Treatment Court program.


Court Security Sergeant Tyson Gulbrandson Sergeant Gulbrandson began his career with the Sublette County Sheriff’s Office in July 2001. He worked in patrol and was promoted to Patrol Sergeant in August 2006. Sergeant Gulbrandson continued working in patrol until he was transferred to Court Security Sergeant in October 2014. Sergeant Gulbrandson will be retiring next week after more than 20 years of service to Sublette County.


We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Cheryl, Carol, Shane, and Tyson for their unwavering dedication and service to the citizens of Sublette County. We wish them all the best in their well-deserved retirements.
