3/27/23 SCAM ALERT

This weekend the SCSO received a report from a citizen who had been scammed. The citizen reported they received a phone call from 307-785-0693. The caller identified himself as "Lieutenant Garcia of the Sublette County Sheriff's Office".

"Garcia" told the citizen they had missed jury duty and had a warrant for her arrest. "Garcia" told them if they paid the "fines over the phone" they wouldn't be arrested. They then requested two Zelle banking transactions and one cash app transaction to "take care of the warrant".

Be cautious of these overtly threatening calls. The SCSO will never request gift cards or transactions like this to take care of any warrants. If there is an active warrant it can only be taken care of directly through the courts. We also publish an active warrant list you can check anytime to see if you have any outstanding warrants.
