On Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2021, the Sherwood Police Department, along with the Little Rock Drug Enforcement Agency, North Little Rock Police Department, Little Rock Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Arkansas State Police, and U.S. Marshals, concluded an extensive investigation into a local drug trafficking organization. The investigation resulted in nine people being indicted. Two of the individuals who were indicted have previous federal indictments for drug trafficking. A tenth person was arrested after being found in possession of approximately one pound of methamphetamines.
Search warrants were served at a home in Sherwood and one just outside the city limits. The search warrants and investigation netted approximately three pounds of methamphetamines, 104 grams of oxycodone and ecstasy, and 268 grams of marijuana. During the investigation, detectives recovered a stolen fully automatic rifle.
More than 20 people were arrested on various state charges throughout the investigation. It was determined their organization was distributing up to 10 kilograms of methamphetamines per month.
