SHERWOOD, Ark. (July 13, 2021) — Today at approximately 12:41 p.m., the Sherwood Police Department responded to The Retreat apartment complex located at 100 Manson Road for multiple reports of gunfire. About three minutes later, the officers arrived and found numerous shell casings in front of building 126. During their initial investigation, they discovered building 116 was also hit with gunfire. Initial reports from witnesses state two Black males with a rifle were in the area. Officers searched the site, but we were unable to locate the males in question. Officers took numerous witnesses to the police department to provide statements.

At approximately 12:57 p.m., the fire department was dispatched to 201 Teague Lane to investigate a fire. When they arrived, they discovered it was not a fire but was the result of a bullet that came through the roof, which, according to the caller, caused the smoke. The Sherwood Police Department arrived on the scene a short time later and believes there is a high probability the incident is related to the earlier incident at The Retreat because the bullet casings match.

At this point, there are no reported injuries, and further details will be released when available.
