Bronx Man Charged in Hit-and-Run Accident That Critically Injured Two People

April 16th, 2023 12:43 pm

General Investigations Unit detectives have arrested a Bronx man in connection with a hit-and-run accident that critically injured two people on Friday morning on the Bronx River Parkway.

Tyshawn Bishoppe-Harris, 21, of Olinville Avenue was charged Friday night with Reckless Driving and Leaving the Scene of a Personal Injury Accident.

On Friday, about 7 a.m., an Acura MDX traveling northbound on the BRP north of Oak Street slammed into the rear of a pickup truck, propelling it off the parkway. The pickup truck rolled over and slammed into a tree. Two men in the pickup were critically injured and remain hospitalized at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla.

The driver of the suspect vehicle fled on foot along with a passenger and they were last seen on MacQuesten Parkway in Mount Vernon. Detectives determined the pair left the scene in another vehicle, and subsequently identified that vehicle as an Uber.

Investigation also determined that the Uber driver had no knowledge that his passengers were fleeing the police at the time.
