Pedestrian Fatality on the Bronx River Parkway Under Investigation

A man was struck and killed by a car on the Bronx River Parkway in White Plains last night as he walked in one of the southbound lanes of travel.

The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of family. He is in his 50s.

The incident occurred at 7:46 p.m. just south of Main Street.  A vehicle traveling south in the left lane of travel struck the pedestrian who was walking in the direction of oncoming traffic. The driver remained at the scene.

The incident was witnessed by several motorists, including two nurses who rendered immediate medical aid to the man. He was also aided by Westchester County Police, White Plains Police and Empress Ambulance personnel.

The man was transported by Empress Ambulance to Westchester Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 8:11 p.m.
