The pedestrian who was struck by a car on the Cross County Parkway died of his injuries last evening at Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx. He is identified as Samuel Wallace, 74, of North Fulton Avenue in Mount Vernon.

Wallace was struck by a car about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday as he walked in the left lane of travel on the westbound Cross County Parkway near the Eastchester-Mount Vernon border.  

Preliminary information indicates Wallace crossed the right and center westbound lanes and was walking in the left lane when he was struck by a Buick SUV. No charges were filed against the driver.

A Citywide Mobile Response Team ambulance that was traveling on the parkway stopped at the scene.  An EMT rendered immediate medical aid to Wallace and Citywide ambulance transported him to Jacobi. The Eastchester Fire Department also responded to the incident.  

The westbound lanes were closed to all traffic for several hours due to the related investigation.
