Three Men Arrested After Overnight Burglary in Mount Kisco

November 30th, -0001 12:00 am

(Mount Kisco, NY) – Westchester County Police responded to a burglary-in-progress at a Mount Kisco home overnight and arrested three men after they fled into the woods in an effort to elude capture.

At 1:41 a.m., officers from the Mount Kisco precinct responded to an activated burglar alarm at a home on Carlton Drive. When the first responding officers arrived, they observed two men run from the house and flee in separate directions into a wooded area.

Mount Kisco precinct officers, supplemented by other County Police personnel and officers from neighboring departments, established a perimeter in the area and began to search for the suspects. A tracking canine (Bloodhound) and the Aviation Unit helicopter were also utilized in the search.

One of the suspects was taken into custody by County Police when he was spotted on Stratford Drive. A second suspect was located sitting in a Jeep on Sarles Avenue and was detained by Bedford Police. County officers responded and took the man into custody. The vehicle was impounded.

Officers continued to canvass the area and the third suspect was taken into custody at Woodcrest Drive and South Bedford Road.

As that suspect was detained, an officer observed a nearby vehicle drive away. A description was broadcast and County Police officers stopped it on South Bedford Road. The occupants were two juveniles who apparently were called to come from Queens to pick up the suspects.

The two youths were brought to County Police headquarters in Hawthorne. Their vehicle, which was unregistered, was impounded and they were subsequently released to one of the youth’s parents.

“I would like to commend our officers and our law enforcement partners for their effective response and teamwork this morning. The coordination among all responders led to the capture of these suspects,” said Acting Commissioner Terrance Raynor of the Department of Public Safety.

Charges against the suspects are pending and expected to be formally lodged later today.
