Flanked by Chief of Department James Luciano and WCPD officers, Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins signed into law today legislation that will ensure uniformed Patrol officers are trained and equipped to administer epinephrine auto-injectors (EpiPens) - providing a critical, life-saving tool for allergy emergencies.
Chief Luciano noted that Patrol officers may arrive at the scene of such an emergency before EMS personnel and will be able to administer immediate aid when every second counts.
Currently, only officers who are members of the Emergency Service Unit (and trained as EMTs) carry the EpiPens in their vehicles.
