Heads up, Westchester. There will be some high winds and colder temperatures blowing in to our area starting later today. Windy weather always brings the potential for fallen trees or branches landing on our local roads and parkways.
There is a Wind Advisory in effect for our region beginning at 4 p.m. through tomorrow morning. The most common projection is for wind gusts at times reaching 45 to 50 mph.
If you encounter any downed wires, assume they are live. Do not drive over them or approach them on foot.
Also, the combination of rain and dropping temperatures starting tonight could bring some icy conditions for your morning commute. If you commute before daylight, exercise extra caution because the high winds and colder temperatures could result in black ice and tree branches/debris on local streets and highways. Those hazards are harder to spot in the dark.
Stay safe, Westchester. As always, our officers are out there if you need us.
