On May 11, 2025, the Naples Police Department responded to an attempted robbery on 5th Ave S at Riverpoint Dr.

Witnesses and the victim, a 58 YOA female, provided a description of the suspect, later identified as Febens Lordeus, a 22 YOA male, to responding officers. The victim stated she was standing alone while waiting for a bus near the intersection of River Point Dr and 5th Ave S when Lordeus approached. He forcefully attempted to pull a purse out of her hands multiple times. A tugging match ensued between the victim and Lordeus, resulting in both falling to the ground. An onlooker witnessed what occurred and attempted to intervene by pushing Lordeus away from the victim. Lordeus then fled on foot towards the area of nearby businesses. The victim was able to retain her belongings during the robbery attempt but sustained minor injuries.

Officers searched the immediate area and subsequently located Lordeus in a parking lot located in the 1300 block of 5th Ave South, when he emerged from behind a fence. Lordeus fled upon seeing the officers and after a brief foot pursuit, was taken into custody without further incident.

Lordeus was arrested and transported to the Naples Jail Center, and charged with offenses related to attempted robbery, battery, resisting an officer without violence, and criminal mischief (property damage).
