ARREST: Electronic Threats to Kill or Cause Bodily Harm

April 4th, 2024 10:13 am

On April 3, 2024, Officers were dispatched to a business on U.S. 41 North in reference to threats made by a recently terminated employee. Officers learned that a current employee was sent electronic written threats via text message from Christian Gutierrez, 24 years old, who stated he wanted to kill him. Gutierrez also stated he was currently on his way to the business. Officers immediately set up a perimeter around the business and attempted to make contact with Gutierrez to learn of his location. A county-wide be on the lookout (BOLO) alert was sent out to all neighboring law enforcement agencies advising them that Naples Police had probable cause for the arrest of Gutierrez. Approximately 30 minutes after the BOLO was released, the Collier County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) was dispatched to a call in Golden Gate Estates where an intoxicated male was attempting to illegally enter a residence. Gutierrez was identified as the suspect and was quickly detained. CCSO transported Gutierrez to the Naples Jail Center where Naples Police Officers charged him with Electronic Threats to Kill or Cause Bodily Harm, a 2nd Degree Felony.

The Naples Police Department continues to work tirelessly with businesses, community leaders, and neighboring law enforcement agencies to prevent and investigate incidents or threats of workplace violence.
