On June 9, 2022, a victim reported their vehicle was burglarized and a purse stolen containing credit cards. The victim reported multiple fraudulent charges on their credit cards. On June 10, 2022, a second victim reported their backpack was stolen from the beach at Broad Avenue South. The victim’s credit card was then used to make a fraudulent purchase. During the investigation, detectives obtained video surveillance of the suspect, who had distinctive tattoos on his hand, using the victim’s stolen credit cards. While investigating another unrelated case involving Phillips, they realized he matched the description from the June 2022 offenses.
On March 8, 2023, Naples Police detectives arrested Ajiha Tashka Phillips for burglary of a conveyance, petit theft, and fraudulent use of personal identification information. Phillips, who is homeless, admitted to the offenses during an interview with detectives.
