On May 8, 2024, at 8:30am, Naples Police Officers were dispatched to a vehicle rollover traffic crash with injuries that occurred in the intersection of Central Avenue and US 41 (9th Street). Upon arrival, the drivers had already exited their vehicles and were being assisted by witnesses of the crash.

The vehicle that rolled over was a pool cleaning truck carrying approximately 44 2.5-gallon containers of chlorine. Due to the amount of chlorine involved in the spill, Naples Fire-Rescue Department’s Hazardous Materials Team was dispatched to conduct decontamination efforts of the spill and effected driver.

During the crash investigation, officers determined that a gold color GMC SUV, operated by Harley Pierce Frey, disregarded a red traffic signal while traveling southbound on US 41 and struck the pool cleaning truck traveling eastbound on Central Avenue attempting to cross over US 41.

Also, during the investigation, it was discovered that Frey was driving with a suspended driver’s license with numerous active suspensions. Officers determined that Frey had previous knowledge that his license was suspended, and Frey was subsequently placed under arrest for Driving While License is Suspended with Knowledge. Frey was transported to the Collier County Jail without incident.
